The movers reached out prior to our move date to explain that the distance from my apartment to the U-Haul would take more than 2 hours. We disagreed and said keep it as requested please. Once meeting the movers we were hit with unexpected problems that seemed questionable as they immediately requested more pay for their services by claiming each flight of stairs was an additional cost and each specified distance walking was ‘supposed’ to be factored as well into additional costs - $200 to $300 MORE than anticipated was their quote. 500 feet was the max walking distance and only the elevator was being used. We immediately tried calling U-Haul to make sense on how to resolve the situation with this moving service provider. Before getting U-Haul customer service on the phone in front of them they retracted the ‘extra charge’ request and went to work to only move the large and heavy items and finished in half of the time. They were rough handling our items unfortunately.
