What will movers not move?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This <a href=\"https:\/\/www.movinghelp.com\/\">Moving Help<\/a> guide will discuss 10 items most movers aren\u2019t likely to move. We\u2019ll also discuss what to do with these items that moving companies won\u2019t or can\u2019t move. Guns<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Most Service Providers won\u2019t move guns. Providers can still move gun safes and safes in general, which they\u2019ll offer as a service on the Moving Help Marketplace. They just won\u2019t move the actual guns themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOne of the biggest things we refuse to move is guns,\u201d said Brad Crothers, owner of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.movinghelp.com\/crothersbrothersmoving\">Crothers Brothers Moving, LLC<\/a>. \u201cThe reason being is because we don\u2019t know whether they\u2019re unloaded and prepped correctly.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Excessively Large Marble Tables<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Extremely large or awkward angled belongings will always be a challenge. Large marble tables will be tough to move mainly because of their weight. The marble\u2019s high density makes it difficult to move in general.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Marble tables can weigh anywhere from 400 to 1,000 pounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While they\u2019re willing to move marble tables, Nick Lamb, owner of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.movinghelp.com\/LambsMoving\">Lamb\u2019s Moving<\/a>, wouldn\u2019t mind not moving a giant, heavy marble table during their jobs for the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Propane Tanks or Gas Cans<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Obviously, anything involving gas is going to be a no as far as moving those items from the get-go. In fact, you can\u2019t put gasoline in the back of a U-Haul truck rental. You should only move propane tanks and gas cans after carefully emptying them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even then, you\u2019ll still need to be extremely cautious when handling propane tanks and gas cans.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe have to strongly recommend to customers that they shouldn\u2019t move propane tanks or gas cans,\u201d said Steve Witzke, owner of Cowboy Movers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Unboxed Flat Screen TVs<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You should never move a flat screen TV \u2014 or any TV for that matter \u2014 unboxed and by itself with zero protection. TVs are valuable and can damage easily. That\u2019s why <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uhaul.com\/MovingSupplies\/Boxes\/Electronics-Boxes\/Flat-Panel-TV-Kit\/?id=16343&amp;utm_source=mhblog&amp;utm_campaign=itemsmoverswontmove\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">U-Haul offers TV moving boxes<\/a> for customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unboxed flat screen TVs are a no-go, said Arturo Hill, owner of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.movinghelp.com\/booknow\">Smoove Move #Review Based<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5. Unboxed Items<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Most moving labor Service Providers also won\u2019t want to move unboxed items. Unboxed items pose several problems. They can easily break or get lost when moving. Movers also don\u2019t want to pack them when they were hired for loading or unloading because then it becomes a liability issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You should find a way to box your items. Of course, you can\u2019t box up a mattress, but you can put a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uhaul.com\/MovingSupplies\/Covers-Bags\/?utm_source=mhblog&amp;utm_campaign=itemsmoverswontmove\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">mattress cover<\/a> on it. You also can pack your silverware and dishes into a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uhaul.com\/MovingSupplies\/Packing-Supplies\/Dish-Saver-Kit\/?id=2577&amp;utm_source=mhblog&amp;utm_campaign=itemsmoverswontmove\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">dish saver packing kit with moving box<\/a> rather than leaving it out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Again, Hill\u2019s team won\u2019t want to move anything unboxed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">6. Fireworks or Explosives<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Like propane tanks and gas cans, fireworks are items movers won\u2019t move. Moving companies also won\u2019t move anything that\u2019s explosive. These items are hazards and pose safety risks. If you need to move these items, you\u2019ll need to find another way to move them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When working as a Service Provider before joining the Moving Help team, Moving Helper Business Development Coordinator Daniel Romero refused to load U-Haul truck rentals with fireworks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFireworks pose a serious risk of ignition, explosion, or fire during transport, which endangers the customer\u2019s belongings, and everyone involved,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">7. Lawnmowers\/Chainsaw<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s not the lawnmower or the chainsaw itself as to why movers won\u2019t move them. Most of these tools require fuel, and it\u2019s the gas in those tools that causes problems. If you empty the fuel, most moving labor Service Providers will move those tools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf they\u2019re taking yard tools such as lawnmowers or chainsaws, we advise them to drain the fuel,\u201d Witzke said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">8. Dressers With Mirror Attached<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A dresser with a mirror attached isn\u2019t the problem as far as size, weight, or the shape of the item. A moving labor provider will be more likely to move a dresser with a mirror attached after the customer has detached the mirror from the dresser.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This way, the moving labor team can move the dresser. Then, the moving labor crew can move the mirror separately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDetaching the mirror is the only way to move it safely without damage,\u201d Romero said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">9. Moving 800+ Pound Gun Safes With Stairs<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Not every Service Provider would decline to move a safe that weighs more than 800 pounds between stairs, but not every Service Provider will accept this job either.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moving a heavy gun safe is already a difficult task, and when you add stairs, it makes the job more complicated. Before your Moving Helpers arrive, make sure you verify ahead of time that they\u2019re capable of moving your safe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI once had a customer who wanted an 800-pound safe move to the second-floor master bedroom,\u201d Romero said. \u201cWe had six, strong helpers flip this safe to the middle landing, make the turn, and flip it again. This was by far the most risky and dangerous thing my crew and I have ever done.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s recommended hiring someone who has specialized equipment for moving safes upstairs, Romero said. The equipment is expensive, and most providers on the Marketplace aren\u2019t equipped for a dangerous task, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile is-vertically-aligned-top\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">10. Uncrated Stained Glass<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Stained glass is extremely fragile. It also can break rather quickly. You need to take many precautions when handling stained glass.
