Below are some things to think about during this time period:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You should <a href=\"https:\/\/www.movinghelp.com\/move\/how-to-give-notice-lease-is-up\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">notify your landlord<\/a>&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You need to look and find a new apartment&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sign a future lease with your new landlord&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Figure out how you\u2019re going to move&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Create a moving budget&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Limit on the new items you buy, so you don\u2019t have to move them&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Your lease could require 90 days or 120 days of notice if you\u2019re not renewing your lease. This is why you might need to start fourth months in advance of moving day. You\u2019ll most likely start two or three months in advance. When it comes to moving, you can never start preparing to move too early.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>1-2 Months <\/strong>out From Your Move<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>At this point in time, you\u2019ll want to start finding help, reserving moving equipment and begin the process of potentially packing depending on how many items you own and whether you have a short-distance move or a long-distance move.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Find a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.movinghelp.com\/\">Moving Help\u00ae<\/a> Service Provider<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Read Moving Help reviews for your Service Provider\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reserve <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uhaul.com\/?utm_source=mhblog&amp;utm_campaign=apartmentmovingchecklist\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">moving equipment<\/a>&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Figure out moving rules at your new apartment&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Gather <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uhaul.com\/MovingSupplies\/Boxes\/?utm_source=mhblog&amp;utm_campaign=apartmentmovingchecklist\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">moving supplies<\/a>&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Declutter items by selling, donating, or throwing away belongings&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Start packing and don\u2019t delay&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you don\u2019t have many items, you might only need a month to pack. If you have many belongings, you might need two months. It always takes longer than expected to pack, but you\u2019ll need to use your own judgement on when to start packing.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you move during the summer months, keep in mind moving companies and moving rental equipment book up quickly. You can\u2019t wait until the last minute to make reservations.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2 Weeks to 1 Month<strong> <\/strong>out From Your Move<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As the countdown gets closer to moving day, you\u2019ll need to make sure all final arrangements are still good to go. You also want to take care of the food in your house.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Change old address to your new address for subscriptions and websites&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you\u2019re not moving on your day off, ask for time off&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Arrange for someone to babysit your child&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Arrange for someone to watch your pets&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If your pet needs vaccinations, make a vet appointment&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Confirm details with your moving labor company\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Confirm any other necessary plans for moving day&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can start packing more apartment essentials&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Eat all your perishable foods to avoid waste&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll want to make sure your plans are confirmed, you\u2019re not wasting food, and you\u2019re changing your address. You\u2019ll be surprised how many subscriptions, websites, etc. require your address.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2 Weeks or Less&nbsp;<strong>out From Your Move<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>With two weeks or less until moving day, you\u2019ll need to wrap up the few loose ends that had to wait until the end of your lease.
