Figuring out when to start packing can get overwhelming because you\u2019re not sure where to begin, or what to pack first, and you own many items. Luckily, if you break it down room by room and work on it a little bit here and there, it won\u2019t seem so bad. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Packing won\u2019t take one night or one day, so you shouldn\u2019t get frustrated if your packing takes one week, two weeks, or a little bit longer to complete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What’s First When I Start Packing?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

You should pack non-seasonal items, such as decorations, first. You also should pack anything you don\u2019t use daily as well. As you get closer to your move-in day, you can begin packing more and more of your daily items. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After you figure out what furniture you\u2019re bringing to your new home, see whether you can pack any furniture items. You can disassemble furniture items, make sure any nails and screws are stored in a dedicated bag and taped to the furniture or in a parts box (see below for more details) to keep in a safe place. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What\u2019s a Parts Box? <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Many people have different uses for a parts box, but a parts box is mainly where you keep all your parts needed to assemble every furniture piece together when you move into your new home. It also can contain a screwdriver, drill, tape, screws, and instruction manuals. Some people keep their packing checklist in this box as well. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do I Need a Day of Bag?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Everyone will have a different situation on whether they need a day of packed bag, but it\u2019s usually better to be safe than sorry, especially if you\u2019re moving out of state. It\u2019s important this bag stays with you and doesn\u2019t get loaded. To avoid that, keep your day of packed bag somewhere away from the other boxes being loaded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
