The movers showed up around 7 pm. They were moving very slowly, which I assumed was due to the late hour and coming straight from another move. The guy moving things from the truck inside was on his phone quite a bit, and when I walked outside to check on things, there was a smell of marijuana. I didn't mind them smoking (outside) or moving slowly, assuming they were tired after a long day. But when they finished, I was told that they'd gone 1.5 hours over the agreed upon time and that I would have to pay. I got upset, but being a woman alone with 2 men who'd been smoking pot, I decided not to make a fuss. They charged me only 1 extra hour, which was still ridiculous. It's a 1,200 sq ft house and the possessions of only one person. I want to be clear that the men did not act inappropriately toward me or my belongings. They were very nice and respectful, except for the things I mentioned. Oh, and tossing a water bottle I'd given them in my yard when it was empty.

I booked All Hands through Uhaul to move a 3bed home, two movers for 5 hours at $500. We had already moved all clothes, dishes, fragile decor, and frames. We move every 2 or so years, and similar moves would have taken about 6 hours when nothing is pre-moved. Although I declined a third mover beforehand, three movers arrived anyway, refused the blankets I'd rented stating they were required to use their own and wrap every single item in blankets and tape. They were careful and skilled, but it took 8 hours to load a 20ft truck. My husband stepped in at unloading to speed their pace. Communication prior to the move was minimal. When Uhaul caused a delay Joseph adjusted the timing with was appreciated. However I was billed $1947 including labor, $300 in materials, and a $350 processing fee and told to pay the difference via Zelle to avoid Uhaul's fees. The crew did a great job, but increasing a $500 job to $2000 without transparent communication is very unprofessional.
