The moving crew was 2.5 hours late. The crew showed up after I had already loaded 70 percent of the moving truck. They worked hard to unload the truck and moved the boxes, furniture, etc. up to the top floor. They were very careful with my possessions and nothing was broken or damaged. Unfortunately, they left a lot of the boxes on the top of the stairs for me to transport down the hall to my loft. Thankfully, they handled the furniture pieces! The movers were courteous and respectful. Out of principal for respect of the labor, I cash-app both of them a $50 tip. I appreciated the owner resolving the unforeseen staff issues and fulfilling the moving help agreement.

My 2 workers arrived at 2;45pm when I had scheduled them for 1pm. I had booked them for 3 hours for a job that should’ve taken less than that, just moving 2 beds, a desk, a table and hutch, a small dresser, a couch, and a wardrobe. After arriving nearly 2 hours late they spent a lot of the time talking, using their phones, and taking breaks every few steps for minutes at a time. They finally completed the job at 5;05pm, not 3 hours later, even with the slower work speed. I had been told they would reduce my fees by $50 to compensate for the late arrival time but was not given a reduced rate, and I was charged for the full 3 hours. I tipped each worker $20 despite the challenges and thanked them for their hard work, but then discovered they had damaged my stairwell. They spent a long time moving one of the beds and had to try multiple ways of getting it upstairs, but they didn’t tell me they had damaged the wall and ceiling. I get stuff happens, but it was just a bad, costly experience.
