I have hired movers (different companies) several times now and have never had as awful of an experience that I had this past Saturday on January 20th. I hired 2 movers for 4 hours with a 20' U-haul thinking it would be enough time to load my 1 bedroom apartment, load my storage unit (5 minutes away) and unload at my new 2 bedroom apartment (15 minutes away). Mikey and Dave were terribly inefficient taking down one or two items at a time and not utilizing the time they had effectively. They weren't careful with my items and ended up damaging a piece of my bathroom furniture. I tried renting moving equipment through U-haul but it was not in my truck at pickup so I ended up paying a extra $200 to go to Lowe's and bought 2 furniture dolleys and 1 hand-truck to hopefully help my movers go quicker as we were at the 4 hour mark and still haven't even gone to my unit (which is where the heaviest items were). I ended up paying an additional $400 in cash because they weren't done after 8 hours.

The two guys who moved my stuff had three hours to move a sofa, two chairs, ottoman, grandfather clock, curio cabinet, cedar chest, and a lot of boxes. They were late arriving, they got lost going from the loading address to the unloading address even though they were following the Uhaul truck. It took them 30 minutes for a 10 minute ride. The one guy was constantly on his phone changing his music. After three hours, they left because I was not going to pay for them to finish unloading what they should have been able to do in 2hours! There was still half a truck of furniture and boxes when they left after three hours. I hired help for a reason! I am a 61 year old with Rheumatoid Arthritis. My son has back problems. The guys that I hired through MovingHelp failed. My son and I unloaded the rest of the truck and returned the Uhaul truck late because the moving helpers didn’t complete the job in three hours as was recommended for the amount of stuff I had to move.
