U-Box storage containers are a great moving resource and serve multiple purposes for many customers. You can use them as temporary storage at your home for remodeling, you can use them as storage at a U-Haul facility, you can use them for an in-town move or cross-country move, or you can have them shipped internationally.
How Many U-Box Storage Containers Should I Order?
It’s recommended you use the U-Haul U-Box container calculator to help you figure out how many containers you’ll need to reserve. Of course, keep in mind that these are estimates, so you may need to adjust your order by a few less or more containers than what’s estimated for you.
It’ll always depend on whether you have more items or fewer items on average compared to other individuals.
If your Service Provider is bringing your storage containers, here are some delivery expectations to keep in mind.
How Much Fits in a Container?
A single U-Box storage container can fit a room to a room and a half. In fact, it can actually fit a king mattress standing up. The U-Box storage container is 56 inches wide, 95 inches long and 83.5 inches high. It can hold up to 257 cubic feet and 2,000 pounds.

Find Flexibility With U-Box Containers
U-Box storage containers let you work on your schedule. If your timeline is a two-month kitchen renovation, you can keep the container at your property. If you’d prefer to leave the container at a U-Haul facility, you can call the location at least 24 hours ahead of when you want to load or unload it, and the facility will get the U-Box container ready for you.
You can have your storage containers delivered directly to you and then picked up at a later date. If your vehicle has the towing capacity, you also can pick up the U-Box storage container and then drop it back off at the U-Haul location yourself.
You can pack the storage containers yourself. You also can hire labor from the Moving Help Marketplace to load or unload your storage containers.
As the customer, you’re the only one who’ll have access to your container since you’ll provide the lock and key.
